The Initiatives

Initiatives are projects curated and managed by the collective (fully) or in collaboration with partners. These collaborative projects seek to offer solutions and viable interventions to pressing societal and business challenges (that are otherwise not prioritized with the current funding priorities) or address opportunities where innovation can help create new opportunities, wealth and impact in the communities.

Through initiatives, we seek to:

  • Surface data and insights through research (for topics or issues where data for decision making is lacking)
  • Translate insights into ideas and concepts through co-creation and co-design sessions (thereby creating new opportunities for intervention to happen)
  • Prototyping concepts to inform pilots and solution roll-out, working with partners
  • Make a case and evidence for partnerships, collaboration, funding support (from funding institutions, development partners, businesses, startups, governments) to help implement solutions that are desirable, viable, feasible and impactful.
  • Build new ways of collaboration, learning, and advocacy for consultants in the collective and for other stakeholders.

Each year we focus on two long term initiative and several short term projects or challenges within certain topics. We bring together consultants in the collective, project partners, other stakeholders, designers and fellows to collaboratively work on the challenge.

Our past Initiatives

Upcoming Initiatives

Over the next 12 months, we will be coming together to solve challenges and bring to life initiatives in four main areas: Education and Learning, Healthcare Services, Future of Parenting & Caregiving, and Future of Food Systems.

The Future of Freelancing
in Sub-Saharan Africa

How might we build better business models to support freelancers and consultants in their work?

Healthcare
Services

How might we rethink the design and delivery of healthcare services to meet the needs of clients in ways that lead to a healthier future and healthier communities?

Caregiving and
Parenting

What does the future of caregiving (for the aging population as well as young ones) look like?

Future of Food
Systems

How might we bring to life a movement of regenerative food system practices that lead to a food-secure future for our generation?
